#133: 8 Weeks to Alleviate Dry Eyes

Nov 16, 2021

This week marks a monumental time in my life. You see, about 3 1/2 years ago I set out on a journey to create a simple to follow plan to alleviate dry eye in patience. My goal was to simplify all the information  and consolidate it into a process to eliminate the dry eye drama from your daily life.

This week marks the three year anniversary of the publishing of that book.  I’d love to give you a free PDF copy of the book.  Click here to get your copy.

Alleviate Dry Eye, the Book

The book was written specifically for you, the patient, in mind. The book is an 8 week journey to take your red, painful eyes to looking, feeling, and seeing great. Through the journey, you'll make lifestyle changes to eliminate the redness and irritation that is constantly controlling your life.

How does it work?

The book is broken up into three sections.

Section 1: EYES

First, you learn a process to take care of your eyes using the 4-simple steps of daily dry eye care.  If you've followed this blog for any time now, then you know I advocate for my patients to use four steps daily to care for their dry eyes.

I recommend using four simple steps daily to treat your dry eyes.  If you're not sure what I mean by each of these steps, you can refer to this blog for a deeper explanation.  Here's an overview of the steps:

  1. Hydrate: Refresh and replenish your tear film by using an artificial tear.
  2. Harmonize:  Cleanse the bacteria populating your lids and lashes.
  3. Heat:  Melt the oil trapped in your meibomian glands with a warm compress.
  4. Heal: Give your body the building blocks of healthy tears using a supplement.

Section 2: Your Health

Next, the book takes you through specific areas of your own personal health. You'll dive into the medications both prescription and over the counter, that you're taking. Many medications have side effects that can lead to eye dryness.

You'll also look at the systemic diseases you may be suffering from. Many diseases can have the result of lowered tear production. Even though they are a systemic disease and not an eye disease.

In this section, you'll also look at your diet. Are you drinking enough water and eating the right nutrients to fuel your body to produce healthy tears. And finally, we look at your sleep habits. Getting adequate sleep is important to allow your body the time it needs to heal.

Section 3: Environment

Finally, in the third section you'll dive into environmental factors that could be leading to dry eye symptoms. Specifically, look at the makeup and products you're putting around your eyes. Learn the best practices to keep your eyes healthy while continuing to wear those lenses.  Set up your workspace to best preserve your eyesight and eliminate eye dryness while spending time on digital devises. Evaluate the year season by season and examine the effects of both the indoor and outdoor environments in which you are living.

The book is chock full of helpful tips and advice on how to make simple changes to your daily life which add up to amazing results to eliminate their pain and irritation a viewer dry eye disease.

The Workbook

When I wrote this book, I wanted it to be easy to continue to follow along with the plan.  So, I included a workbook to make it easy to stay on track.  The workbook is meant to be downloaded and written on.  You can keep it with you throughout the day to make notes in the journal section, or you can leave it somewhere handy at home to reference the plan for that week.

You can utilize the success log to check off your dry eye treatments and have a sense of accomplishment for doing something great for yourself.  Self-care is the best care.

What Happens if I get off course?

The book is laid out in a simple step-by-step formula. But, as we all know, it's easy to get distracted by daily life.  And, eight weeks gives ample opportunity for other projects and life events to creep in and throw you off course.

Never fear, life throws us all curve balls from time to time.  Once you download the book, you will receive a weekly email to keep you on tract with the dry eye relief plan.  It will be a gentle nudge to get you back on tract.  And some of the emails have additional tips that aren’t in the book to keep you feeling great.

CONCLUSION

Dry eye disease is chronic and progressive.  It’s a disease just like high blood pressure, diabetes, or glaucoma.  It doesn’t just get better on its own.  Ignoring it won’t make it go away.

Also, dry eye disease is multi-factorial.  It can come from your age, gender, systemic diseases, medications you take, the food you eat or don’t eat, the sleep you get, the self-care items you place in and around your eyes, your digital device use, and your environment.  Just to name a few.

Thinking about managing or eliminating your dry eyes can be truly overwhelming.  That is why I wrote the book, Alleviate Dry Eye, to cut through the overwhelm.  The book provides an easy to follow plan.  In honor of my 3 year publishing anniversary, I’d love to give you a free PDF copy of the book.  Click here to get your copy.
