#134: Giving Thanks in 2021

Nov 23, 2021

This week is Thanksgiving!  It is one of my favorite holidays.  I love to take the time to think back and remember all the things I can be grateful for in my life.  In this blog, I'll reveal the three things that I am thankful for in the dry eye world that are new this year in 2021.

#1) Innovation in Eye Care

There have been several new drugs that have gained FDA approval in the past couple of years to treat Dry Eye Disease.  The newest drug to receive approval is Tyrvaya.  It was just FDA approved in October.  It is a nasal spray for the treatment of dry eye disease.

A nasal spray!?!?!? Wow.  You won't need to be putting more drops in eyes that sting and burn.  Yay.  It's something completely different.  This nasal spray that stimulates your body to make its own real natural tears.  The increase normal tear volume creates homeostasis on the front surface of the eye.

Using this medication creates a smooth, natural tears that increases both the comfort of your eyes and the clarity of your vision.  I am so excited to see what it can do to help my own patients.

#2) Clean Beauty Innovation

Clean eye makeup is my happy place.  I love using and talking about products that both make you look beautiful and feel healthy.   A new brand of clean beauty products hit the market this year.  These products are produced by a heart centered ophthalmologist in New Jersey.

Dr. Diane Hilal Campo was tired of seeing women struggle with red painful eyes from improper use of their cosmetics.  Many of her patients could no longer tolerate their eye makeup because it was so irritating to their eyes.

Dr. Campo created the line of products at Twenty/Twenty Beauty with one thought in mind.  "Healthy eyes are beautiful."  She developed non-toxic  products that bring back eye health while increasing their beauty.  The eye shadow sticks even make you look good while feeling good.  Check them out here.

#3) Proactive Patients

I am so thankful for all of you who are out there trying to find out why their eyes are feeling the way they're feeling, how they can help themselves, and what they need to do.  I am so very thankful you have found me through my office, blog, videos, book, or social media.  I'm so happy to have you here.

Thank you so much for being along the journey with me. I hope I have given you helpful tips and tricks along the way.  I want to provide you with resources you can use to feel better. Thank you for being here.  If you didn't download your free PDF copy of my book last week, you can get it here.

CONCLUSION

Thanksgiving is a great time to reflect on the wonderful things that have come about in the past year.  In the world of dry eyes, there is a ton of innovation.  New products are available to treat dry eye disease.   Here, I highlight three things I am grateful for this year:

1) Tyrvaya is an FDA approved nasal spray to treat dry eye disease.  This medication helps your body to make more of its own natural tears.

2) Twenty/Twenty Beauty launched a line of products which are non-toxic to the eyes.  You can look great by using the Visionary Eye Shadow Sticks and have eyes that still feel great at the end of the day.

3) Thousands of proactive dry eye sufferers have reached out to learn more about how to improve their dry eye disease.  You have signed up for my weekly blog, watched videos, read the book, followed me on social media, or taken one of my courses for dry eye sufferers.  And, I am thankful for you.

Thanks for being here with me in 2021.  And, I can't wait to see what we are thankful for in 2022.  Have a Happy Thanksgiving.
