Digital Eye Strain. Are you Ready to Unplug?

Mar 20, 2020

The national day of unplugging was Friday, March 6.  This was a time for us to take a break from our electronic devices.  In this case, I'm referring to cell phones, tablets, computers, televisions, and anything else that has a screen.

Most of us can’t get away from using these electronic devices.  They are so much a part of our modern life that they are integrated into our jobs and even our social lives.  At work, most of us are even practicing with electronic health records.  These records make it so much easier to read other doctors' handwriting and find exactly what you’re looking for without searching through the office.

Why Do We Need to Unplug?

So if electronic devices are so helpful, and they are making our lives easier, what is everybody complaining about? Why do we need...

Morning Routine

Jan 13, 2020
Do you have a morning routine?  In my last blog, I talked about a few steps I take to get myself mentally, emotionally, and physically prepared for the day.  But, I also have a few steps that I ask myself and my patients do to prepare their eyes for the day.

This fall, both of my children were in what we now call, “big girl school“.  No more school bus for one and Mother's Day Out for the other.  We all walk out the door together, and we are dressed and ready to take on the day.

So this year, I have been doing a lot of thinking about morning routines. How do my kids not know that they’re supposed to put their shoes on before we walk out the door?  It was trying at first, but we are getting the hang of it all now.

To make things go smoothly, I have even gone so far as to write ...

4 Simple Steps to Alleviate Dry Eyes

Oct 16, 2019

Several years ago, I began to struggle with dry eyes.  This was at a time when I lived in a very dry climate, and I wore contact lenses most of the time. My eyes would get dry towards the end of my workday, and I couldn’t wait to take them off when I finally got home.

Most days a couldn't stand to wear eye makeup.  I knew there must be a better way to live.  I couldn't go on with the feeling of wanting to claw the contact lenses from my eyes before 5 pm.

I began to research how to keep moisture in my eyes longer.  I played around and tried every contact lens and contact lens cleaning solution on the market.  I definitely have my favorites from that experiment, but there was still something missing.

Since then, I’ve read articles, attended lectures, and even written a book on the...

Before you start thinking about making your lashes longer, you need to know whether or not your lashes are healthy.  There may be a reason your lashes aren't as f...
