#207: Bad Habits that Make Dry Eyes Worse

Apr 09, 2024

Sometimes my patients share cringe-worthy practices with me in my clinic. These are things they do with their eyes that they don't know are harmful. It's time to address these habits head-on. Let's talk about bad eye habits.

Bad Eye Habit #1) Using Get the Red Out Drops

Using drops that promise to "get the red out" are not helping your eyes. Stop using them! You're merely covering up the problem. If you're constantly using these drops, you're ignoring the warning signs. Redness is your body's way of signaling danger or caution. So why cover it up instead of fixing it?

Those "get the red out" drops squeeze the blood vessels on the front of your eyes closed. Thus, the drops control the redness, but they don't eliminate the inflammation. They're not good for yo

#199: Your Holiday Shopping Guide, aka your Personal Wish List

Nov 21, 2023

The 2023 gift guide for the holidays so that you can get all of your friends with red, sensitive eyes, the best gifts to pamper them this holiday season.

#1) Eyes are the Story Mascara

Now, this is a box of three mini mascara wands. I really love this mascara. It is my favorite. The three mini wands keeps the brush and tube clean. You replace these wands every month. Less bacteria stays in the mascara tube to grow since you dispose of it so often.

Instead of using the big tubes of mascara which you throw out every three months, you get three smaller tubes that you'll replace once a month.

The mascara is formulated with a creamy texture, and it doesn't flake. I find that this mascara lasts all day and it's a nice dark black color. I love it.

Some of the things we have no control over, like your gender and your age.  Women, especially those over 40, are more likely to have dry eye than men. And, we can't change our gender or age.  But, there are a ton of causes of dry eye that we can control.

Let's talk about what you can take care or change to help our dry eyes. I like to break this down into three parts. I called it the EYE Method.  The first is E for Eyes. The Y is for Your Health. And, the final E is for the Environment.  Let's look at each part.  Over the next 3 weeks, I'll break down the nitty gritty of controlling each of the parts of the ...

#131: Clean Beauty with Dr. Diane Hilal Campo

Nov 02, 2021

Today I have a very special guest with me, Dr. Diane Hilal Campo. She is the founder of Twenty/Twenty Beauty, a new line of beauty products that have been very helpful to my dry eye patients.  The reason my patients have had so much success with her products is because they avoid all of the most common toxic ingredients.  If you would like to see a list of common toxic ingredients, download it here.

I am so pleased to have Dr. Campo to help explain her views of clean makeup and how her products are solving problems for dry eye patients who haven't been able to wear makeup, maybe for years now.

WHAT IS CLEAN BEAUTY

Clean beauty means that the products that you're using for your beauty routine do not contain anything that can harm your body. The beauty industry is not well-regulated....
